Your generosity delivers fresh produce and household goods to help thousands of Madison County families

Operation Love Ministries is a collective of churches, organizations, and community members, and has dedicated itself to serving those in need, providing “Help for Today & Hope for Tomorrow.” Over the 40 years as an organization, Operation Love has depended on volunteers to pick up donations. This has often required multiple vehicles and, often, large delivery fees. Andrea Baker, Executive Director, recalls filling her personal vehicle to the brim with ham on one occasion.

A Community Impact Grant from the Madison County Community Foundation

provided funds for Operation Love to purchase its own truck

for large food loads and business donations.

Andrea says, “Not only can we respond to a last minute donation, we can also pick up large donations from Second Harvest without paying a delivery fee.” Since the purchase of the truck in July, its impact has already been significant. Operation Love was able to pick up a water tank for the community garden, which has provided hundreds of pounds of fresh produce. Without the truck, acquiring the water tank would not have been feasible.

Shortly after the purchase of the truck, the lift gate used for loading and unloading was damaged. Madison County Community Foundation was able to provide an emergency mini grant and match a donation given to Operation Love by a local bank in order to fix the lift.

Each trip made by the truck symbolizes more than just transportation; it represents what happens when a community comes together. As they continue to serve Madison County, Operation Love embodies the idea that through a collective effort immediate needs can be met and long-term change is fostered. By pooling resources and expertise, Operation Love ensures that those who want to help can do so effectively, creating a network of support that uplifts everyone involved.
