Alternatives Incorporated

Your generosity provides survivors a safe space to break cycles and empower them to thrive.

Alternatives Incorporated strives to eradicate domestic and sexual violence through education, prevention, and intervention in Central Indiana. In order to do this, those trapped in the cycle of domestic violence need to feel safe and protected.

Ashley Waterbury-Carpenter, COO of Alternatives, shares that they realized that their branding was causing a barrier for survivors in need of assistance. Survivors indicated that the branding was traumatizing and scary. Alternatives became aware that they needed to make a change in order to maximize their mission.

A grant from Women in Philanthropy through the Madison County Community Foundation enabled Alternatives, Inc. to rebrand their marketing materials so that survivors feel more comfortable seeking out their services.

Alternatives utilized the feedback from survivors and a Survivor Advisory Committee to create new branding and imagery that is uplifting, approachable, and hopeful. The new branding has been received well in the community and is making a significant impact.

Taylor Wake serves as the Prevention Specialist at Alternatives and one of her responsibilities is to represent Alternatives at health fairs, career fairs, and other community events. The new branding is utilized to raise awareness to ensure that survivors know where to turn when these services are needed.

“In the past, before we got our new materials, I would see people walk by and just give us a side glance. Now, with our new marketing, it’s much more approachable. People come up and we are able to engage with them and give them the material for when they may need our services in the future. “

Every gift, large and small, contributes to the mission of Madison County Community Foundation to increase the quality of life for the citizens of Madison County. Consider giving to the Impact Madison Fund to help us continue to meet emerging local needs. Impact Madison Grants support nonprofit programs in the areas of Arts, Culture, and History, Health and Human Services, Education, Thriving Community, and Women and Children. All donations to this fund will be tripled. Your generosity enriches the lives of children in our community and provides educational and life-changing experiences.
